Eric has married twice. He has five children.
His first wife was Pattie Boyd Harrison Clapton. A successful model in the 1960s, she inspired his classic album from 1970, Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs. Eric fell in love with her even though Pattie was married to his best friend, George Harrison. The Harrison’s divorced in the mid-70s. Eric and Pattie married on 27 March 1979. Divorced in 1989, they had no children.
Eric married Melia McEnery on 1 January 2002. They have three young daughters: Julie Rose (b. June 2001), Ella Mae (b. January 2003) and Sophie (b. February 2005).
Eric’s eldest child is his daughter, Ruth (b. January 1985).
His son, Conor, was born in August 1986. Conor died on 20 March 1991, when he tragically fell from a window in his mother’s New York City apartment.
