Other musicians occasionally “guest star” during Eric’s tour performances, but this is a bit of a rarity. In most cases of recent vintage, the “guest” was the opening act. In 2006, on many evenings of the European Tour and all nights on the U.S. / Canada Tour, tour support Robert Cray, joined Eric on stage for “Old Love” and “Crossroads”. In 2007, Robert Cray stepped out for “Crossroads” on a nightly basis for the U.S. / Canada dates. Robert Randolph who opened for Eric during the European and US tour of 2004, joined Eric on stage for the encores, “Sunshine Of Your Love” and “Got My Mojo Working”. In 1998, Bonnie Raitt and Jimmie Vaughan took turns opening the show and would join Eric on stage during the encore. Vaughan did the same while opening for Clapton during the blues tour of 1995 and on select dates in the US during 2004.
