LEGENDS - VL 1997001

Legends

“Legends” was the brainchild of renowned American bassist / producer / composer Marcus Miller. In Legends, Eric Clapton was not the headliner, but simply another guy in the band. It was not a rock band, but a jazz ensemble that performed at the major European jazz festivals in the summer of 1997. The group consisted of:

Eric Clapton – Guitar
Steve Gadd – Drums
Marcus Miller – Bass
David Sanborn – Saxophone
Joe Sample – Piano

In July 1997, Legends embarked on a 11-date tour of the major European Jazz Festivals. Although a studio album was rumoured at the time, it was never recorded. Legend’s performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival has been released on DVD.
