Blind Faith

After Cream broke up in late 1968, the next band Eric Clapton joined was Blind Faith, one of rock’s first “supergroups.” (Crosby Stills & Nash predated Blind Faith by a few short weeks).

Blind Faith evolved out of informal jamming at Eric Clapton’s home with Steve Winwood. Winwood suggested adding Ginger Baker to the lineup. Rick Grech joined on bass. The band spent February to June 1969 in the studio jamming and recording.

Blind Faith’s debut was at a free concert in London’s Hyde Park on 7 June 1969. Before the band jelled into a cohesive unit, a self-titled album was released and they set out on an extensive U.S. Tour. Blind Faith faded away after less than a year together.

Eric Clapton then moved on to a short tenure with Delaney & Bonnie & Friends.
