From time to time, Eric Clapton has taken part in benefit concerts to raise funds for charitable organizations and causes.

Eric took part in the first large-scale rock benefit on 3 August 1971 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The event was organized by his friend, George Harrison, to raise funds for the suffering people of Bangladesh. The concert was filmed / recorded and released as The Concert For Bangladesh.

On 30 June 1999, Clapton hosted Eric Clapton & Friends at Madison Square Garden to raise funds for the drug / alcohol rehabilitation center he founded, Crossroads Centre at Antigua. In addition to funds raised by ticket sales, the concert was released on video and DVD. He organized a second benefit for the Centre in 2004. It took place over three days in Dallas, Texas. A two DVD set, entitled Eric Clapton Crossroads Guitar Festival was released to raise further monies. His second Crossroads Guitar Festival and third benefit concert for Crossroads Centre, took place on 28 July 2007 in Chicago, Illinois. A DVD of the one-day event, Crossroads: Eric Clapton Guitar Festival 2007 was released on 6 November 2007.
