1999 Christie's Guitar Auction: Did Eric Clapton buy one of his guitars back?

There was one particular guitar Eric Clapton wanted to buy back for personal reasons at the auction that took place in 1999. This was announced prior to the auction taking place at Christies in New York City. The guitar Eric Clapton was interested in buying back has never been revealed.

Eric Clapton later said he made the decision that if the guitar went above a certain price, he would let it go as he was raising money for Crossroads Centre at Antigua.

He did not buy it back.
