Clapton and Winwood: Brilliant In Basel

Another night, another brilliant show from legendary musicians Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood and their band. This time, the locale was St. Jakobshalle in Basel, Switzerland on 26 May 2010. Unlike last year's U.S. Tour, this year's set list has been evolving almost daily. In Basel, the duo replaced "Slide Song (A)" with "Crossroads". Longtime Where's Eric! Contributor Nadja Teichert had this to say about the gig: "Highlight again is Voodoo Chile (SMOKING) with Glad and Gimme Some Lovin' following closely. Other standouts were The Shape I'm in, Presence of the Lord, Georgia, Layla and Can't Find My Way Home. The venue was sweltering hot; there were two air conditioning units on stage. Neither Eric nor Steve said anything except a few "thank yous" from Eric. Gig ended at 1 h 55 min before the encore Dear Mr Fantasy was played. Despite short gig, it was again a sensational night with Voodoo Chile as the stand-out song. EC was on fire and SW's contribution was fantastic. The whole band forms a great, tight unit."

Out on the road with Steve and Eric are Chris Stainton (keyboards), Willie Weeks (bass), Steve Gadd (drums) and backing vocalists Michelle John and Sharon White. Next stop for the musicians is the ISS Dome in Dusseldorf on Friday.
