ERIC CLAPTON CONFIRMS RETURN TO IRELAND WITH ANNOUNCEMENT OF SHOWS IN DUBLIN AND CORK
TICKETS GO ON SALE THIS MONDAY 4 FEBRUARY AT 9AM
Following a busy year filled with a World Tour, an epic guitar festival and a highly-anticipated autobiography, ERIC CLAPTON has announced he will play dates in Dublin and Cork this summer. Clapton will be returning to Ireland after 4 years when he played to a sold out crowd at the Point Theatre back in 2004. The dates confirmed are as follows:
Friday 20 June 2008 CORK, Live At The Marquee
Saturday 21 June 2008 DUBLIN, Malahide Castle
With Special Guest: Robert Randolph & The Family Band
Clapton has released the ultimate career CD retrospective for the artist known as Slowhand. Complete Clapton is a 2-disc career-spanning album (the first time the full breadth of Clapton's musical works is contained in one set) released by Polydor Records on October 8, 2007, the day before Clapton, The Autobiography was released to bookstores Nationwide.
Clapton's career has endured for more than 40 years, resulting in 18 Grammy Awards and earning the distinct honour of being the only triple inductee into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. One of the world's finest guitarists, Clapton was a member of such seminal rock bands as Cream and Blind Faith. He also created countless hits as part of his solo career beginning in 1970 with the release of the self-titled Eric Clapton album following through to 2005's Back Home. Complete Clapton also features songs from two co-produced albums, Riding With the King, a collaboration with iconic blues man BB King, and The Road To Escondido, a partnership with long time friend and guitar great J.J. Cale.
Robert Randolph & The Family Band is a multicultural American funk and soul band composed of Robert Randolph, Marcus Randolph (drums), Danyel Morgan (bass), Jason Crosby (keyboards & fiddle), Lenesha Randolph (vocals and rhythm), as well as three rotating rhythm guitarists, Joey Williams of Blind Boys of Alabama, "Shmeeans", and Cousin Ray-Ray. Frontman Robert Randolph, a native of Maplewood, New Jersey, makes prominent use of the steel guitar in the Band's music which he learned to play during worship services in the House of God Church.
