Cream Rises To The Top: Eric Clapton & Jack Bruce With Redbeard

American radio host and legendary program director, Redbeard, celebrates the 45th Anniversary of the classic album Disraeli Gears in a new episode of InTheStudio: The Stories Behind History’s Greatest Rock Bands with guests Eric Clapton and Jack Bruce. Having established themselves as the first “power trio” on their debut album, Cream took a bit of a left turn sonically with the help of producer Felix Pappalardi on Disraeli Gears. When released in November 1967, it introduced a psychedelic sound to the blues and spawned a number one single, “Sunshine of Your Love”. But as Clapton recalls, the band’s perception of themselves during their rise to stardom was surprisingly humble. “We didn’t have all this mania that exists now for the ‘60s. Cream was just a little known band from England, actually, a lot less known than The Who, and we weren’t really aware of what we were.”

Redbeard’s syndicated radio program airs on over 70 stations across North America. For a complete list of stations, click here. For those outside the listening area, tune in online on Redbeard’s website, inthestudio.net.
