EC Closes 42nd Dresden Music Festival

Cellist Jan Vogler is special guest for entire acoustic set

On June 10, Eric Clapton headlined the closing concert of the 42nd Dresden Music Festival at the Messe Dresden. It was his first-ever concert in the city and the final date of his short tour of Germany and Austria.

Vogler, a renowned cellist, is the artistic director of the Dresden Festival and invited Eric to perform. He is well known for including musicians from other genres in the classical music festival lineup.

The high point of the concert was the five-song acoustic set, which featured Jan Vogler on cello. Fans also gave high marks to “I Shot The Sheriff,” “Holy Mother” and “Crossroads.”

After Eric, his band and Jan Vogler took their final bows, Eric and Jan were presented with large bouquets of flowers. Eric immediately began picking flowers out to toss to the audience and Jan followed suit. As they were leaving the stage, Jan handed a flower from his bouquet to Eric.

Eric returns to the road in September for three U.S. concerts and the two-night Crossroads Guitar Festival in Dallas, Texas.
