Eric Clapton & His Band Rock The BOK

Eric and his band were at Tulsa’s BOK Center on Tuesday, 2 March. All the early reports indicated Eric rocked the BOK. It was a "hometown show" for bandmember Walt Richmond (keyboards). Opening with "Going Down Slow," Eric took the audience on a musical tour of his career touching on his blues roots, his work with Derek & The Dominos, Cream, and his ample solo catalog. One fan commented from his iPhone right after the show, "The 7 hour drive to Tulsa was worth it. A veteran of many shows since ’74, I can say his playing is better than ever. Does he have a painting of a guitarist that’s getting old and decrepit in a closet somewhere in his house? It’s been years since he was the only guitar player, every note, solo was perfect. I enjoyed the tours with Doyle and Derek, but this is the real deal. Keep it this way, Eric. Acoustic playing was white hot – he makes the guy who did Unplugged look like a newbie."

Another concert-goer wrote, "This was my 4th EC concert since 2000 and the first in my hometown of Tulsa. I went with a friend who had never seen Eric in concert. Afterwards he said ‘hands down, the best concert that I’ve ever seen. The band was amazing, creative and never missed one note. And Eric’s playing was unbelievable.’ The great thing about hearing songs more than once is that Eric never plays them the same way twice. He always adds a new idea or twist that makes the solo almost a new song."

Still another said, "Wow! Maybe the best concert ever in our new BOK center. EC gave a full hour and half of fantastic guitar artistry while doing all our favorite EC tunes!! The encore was superb with Crossroads."

Roger Daltrey kicked the night off with an 11 song set featuring his own solo material and some classics from The Who’s catalog. One fan mentioned in a quick email, "Roger was terrific – it’s almost an hour from one of rock’s great vocalists. This is not an "opening act’. Don’t miss it."

The tour now moves on to the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri for a concert on 3 March. They then move on to Memphis, New Orleans, Raleigh, Atlanta, and Sunrise before wrapping things up in Atlanta on 13 March.
