Eric Clapton: Holiday Season Guest Spots

Eric was active over the holiday period, making impromptu appearances at Chiddingfold Ex-Servicemen’s Club on Saturday 20 December 2003 to join No Stiletto Shoes and at Guildford Civic Hall on Sunday 4 January 2004 as part of Gary Brooker & Friends.

The Guildford Civic Hall show – entitled "The Last Fling" – was particularly notable both for the fact that it was the last ever concert to be held at the venue but also due to the range of guests on stage. At one point, Eric was jamming with Alvin Stardust, Leo Sayer, Paul Jones and Colin Blunstone! Within an eclectic cocktail of pop, rock and soul standards, Eric was still able to take the lead on When You’ve Got a Good Friend, Wonderful Tonight and Cocaine backed by Gary Brooker, Andy Fairweather Low, Dave Bronze, Henry Spinetti and saxophone player Frank Meade, but saved his best soloing of the night for Gin House.

Full reviews of both these shows and more great photos will appear in the next issue of Where’s Eric! Magazine
