Fan Reviews:

Review by Nino Sinco
We flew in from Manila, Philippines on 12 April 2016 for the opening night of Eric Clapton's residency at the Budokan in Tokyo. I was lucky enough to get tickets online in January and our whole Japan trip centered on the concert.

Seeing EC live has been on my bucket list and it was fantastic to see the man and his band finally. The beauty of Eric's music is that whether it is recorded or live, the sound is the same, no manipulations, pure raw Clapton guitar and voice, a virtuoso at work.

The bonus for the April 13 concert was the guest appearance of Ed Sheeran which did not happen in the other four nights. Seeing Andy Fairweather Low, Dirk Powell, Chris Stainton and the rest of the band were part of this dream come true.

I look forward to the release of "I Still Do" and EC's new material and collaborations, and maybe, just maybe, another concert if he decides to "unretire" in the future.

Bravo!

Thanks to come again for Eric! Today's the super playing “I Shot The Sheriff” and next acoustic set's “Circus Left Town.” I think the first time was played in Japan, maybe. We are soooooo happy.

Multi instrument to Dirk Powell’s playing is bringing a new taste to Eric’s sounds. Ed Sheeran and Eric are feeling that we followed a very good relationship. It was a shame only one, would be “The song” that should have wanted the audience everyone has not been played.

Review by Tsuzuki Hiroyuki
At the final day of the 2014 Japan tour, Eric said, “This is the best place I’ve ever played, the best place in the world.” His declaration was proved to be true. It’s amazing that he especially selects the Budokan for 5 days of special gigs.

I thought that the 2014 tour would be the last in Japan, because he said in the concert program that he visited us to say goodbye. The fact is that he came here to say not to leave Japan.

The 5 gigs seems to be his thankfulness to Japanese people who gave him a warm welcome for over 40 years. His love of Budokan will result in accomplishing 91 gigs in total by the end of these special concerts.

Tonight before starting the show, Eric solely appeared on the sage and said “Konbanwa, good evening “. He looked happy coming back to the Budokan. The gig was, I think, wholey on an ordinary level. It lacked edge. The retirement from the tour had an influence on his playing. I hope it will be gradually getting better.
