When The Band That Helped Invent Rock N? Roll Went Back To The Studio To Record The Album Of A Lifetime, Thirteen Legendary Buddies Lent Their Voices.

The Crickets?J.I. Allison (drums), Joe B. Mauldin (bass) and Sonny Curtis (guitar)? helped define the sound of modern music and sold millions of records with hits like ?That?ll Be the Day,? ?Oh Boy? and ?Peggy Sue.?

They have been cited as direct influences by the Beatles, the Hollies, Bob Dylan and numerous other rock, country, and rockabilly musicians. Their songs are among the most popular and most recognizable of the modern era.

Today, in 2004, the Crickets, joined by a number of their buddies including Eric Clapton, Rodney Crowell, Waylon Jennings, Graham Nash, John Prine, Albert Lee, and Nanci Griffith are releasing a new album entitled ?The Crickets and Their Buddies? which is now available in 5.1 surround sound DVD-A and stereo CD mixes from Sovereign Artists.

The new album was recorded in Nashville and Los Angeles by Grammy?-award-winning producer/engineer Greg Ladanyi (Jackson Browne, Fleetwood Mac, Toto). It contains 15 new tracks of classic songs, including a legendary ?lost? Crickets song ?Someone, Someone? that features a brilliant performance by Eric Clapton.

Another stand-out track is one of the last recordings by country music legend Waylon Jennings, who became friends with The Crickets while still a teenager and now brings his inimitable style to the song ?Well Alright.?

The complete track list is:

1: That'll Be The Day - (with Rodney Crowell)
2: Rave On - (with Phil Everly)
3: Not Fade Away - (with Tonio K. & Peter Case)
4: Someone, Someone - (with Eric Clapton)

15: Love's Made A Fool Of You - (with Johnny Rivers)

Eric Clapton - Someone, Someone

Perhaps the most illustrious guest on the album is ERIC CLAPTON, who joins his heroes on one of the band's long-forgotten B-sides: "SOMEONE, SOMEONE." Here it gets quite a soulful rendition and is topped off with some very tasteful guitar from EC plus some nice touches from Jeffrey CJ Vanston on piano.
