Eric Clapton and his band headlined on the main stage at Denmark's annual Skanderborg Festival on Sunday 10 August. The festival takes place in a massive woodland area with smaller stages scattered along the various pathways in the trees. There are also plenty of food stalls and shops to visit - a beautiful location for a music festival.
Eric took the stage at 8:30PM. The fifteen song set ended at 10:02PM. The acoustic set was the highlight of the night's performance especially with a stunning 36 bar solo by EC during "Driftin'". Other standouts were "Hoochie Coochie Man" (despite Doyle's minor technical issues at the beginning of the song) and "Outside Woman Blues". It also seemed as if everyone present sang along with Eric during "Wonderful Tonight."
Doyle also deserves a special mention this evening as his playing was excellent throughout the performance.
Eric's band for this tour includes Doyle Bramhall II (guitar / vocals), Chris Stainton (keyboards), Willie Weeks (bass), Abe Laboriel Jr (drums), Michelle John (backing vocals) and Sharon White (backing vocals).
The band now moves on to Germany for a gig in Leipzig on 12 August.
