Eric Clapton to team up with Indian musician Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt

Blues fans can look forward to some heady music when Eric Clapton jams with Indian musician Vishwa Mohan Bhatt.

For a Grammy Award winner like Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, nothing would seem too big. But even the Veena maestro can't hold his excitement when it comes to collaborating with international guitar legend Eric Clapton.
Bhatt said he was in touch with Clapton, but it was too early to specify any dates.

As Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt informs, "There is a collaboration with Eric Clapton in the offing. I was invited to the threeday Crossroads festival in Dallas by Eric Clapton.

And a DVD of the concert came out with an extensive coverage of my performance. Post the festival, Eric and I have been in touch.

We recently discussed the possibility of collaborating together and it may happen by 2007, as he is currently busy with his other projects."

Bhatt plays the Mohan Veena, a version of the slide guitar that assimilates traditional Indian string instruments such as the sitar, sarod and veena.

He won a Grammy along with guitarist Ry Cooder in 1994 for a world music album, A Meeting by the River.
Meanwhile, a biography of his titled 'Vishwa Mohan Bhatt — The Musical Messiah' has also been recently released.
