The Concert for New York was organized by Paul McCartney in response to the 9/11 attacks. A benefit for the Robin Hood Relief Fund, it took place at Madison Square Garden on 20 October 2001 and was broadcast live on VH1. The event ran for about 5 1/2 hours. Proceeds from the sale of the CD, DVD and VHS (now out of print) also went to the Robin Hood Fund.
