Clapton Headlines Ferrari Maserati Festival At Brands Hatch

Eric Clapton headlined a special concert at Brands Hatch in Kent on Saturday 3 August 2002, as part of the Ferrari Maserati Festival. Also on the bill were Jools Holland and his Orchestra.

Accompanied by familiar cohorts Gary Brooker, Andy Fairweather-Low, Henry Spinetti and Dave Bronze, the show was remarkable for the diversity in the set list and the easy, relaxed atmosphere of the performers. Songs like Knock on Wood, Third Degree, Little Queenie and Five Long Years allowed for plenty of soloing with Gin House the pick of the bunch, whilst even Eric’s trusty old Gibson Birdland was brought out for a rousing rendition of Dust My Broom. Despite torrential rain throughout, spirits were raised further when Albert Lee came on to complete the second half of the set, his first live appearance with Eric for 20 years.

A full review and exclusive photos will feature in the next issue of Where’s Eric!, available in September.
