EC Speaks To Dan Forte About The Breeze

WATCH THE ENTIRE INTERVIEW HERE! Music journalist Dan Forte sat down with Eric Clapton for an in-depth talk about the making of “The Breeze (An Appreciation of JJ Cale)”. In the 42 minute interview, Clapton discusses bonding with Cale at Albert Lee’s home around 1980, the idea for “The Breeze” germinating on a flight from London to Los Angeles on his way to Cale’s memorial service, his deep appreciation of Cale’s music and and the guitarist’s memories of recording “The Road To Escondido” with Cale in 2006, the recording of “Angel” with Cale for Clapton’s “Old Sock” CD in 2013 and much more.

Portions of the interview were used in documentaries recently airing on VH1, Palladia and Amazon.

“The Breeze” was released last month. It went straight to #1 on the UK’s Official Record Store Chart as the biggest selling album in the country’s independent record shops and #3 on the Official Album Chart. The album entered the Billboard 200 at #2 in the US. Elsewhere around the globe, “The Breeze” is  #1 in The Netherlands and Denmark, #2 in Germany and Canada and #4 in Belgium.

Dan Forte has won an ASCAP/Deems Taylor Award winner for excellence in music journalism and has interviewed such legends as George Harrison, Buck Owens, Jimmy Reed, Frank Zappa, James Jamerson, and Carlos Santana in addition to Eric Clapton for Rolling Stone, Musician, and numerous other publications.
