Eric Clapton Featured On New Album From Pedrito Martinez

WATCH VIDEOS OF ALL 3 TRACKS FEATURING EC! Eric Clapton is featured on the first three tracks of Acertijos (Riddles), the new album from percussionist and foremost purveyor of Cuban folk music, Pedrito Martinez. The music on the album is playful and profound, juvenile and ancient, with the sounds of Yoruba, rumba, jazz, and timba. “A compilation of emotions,” Pedrito calls it, “and the story of my life living in New York and Cuba.”

The acoustic guitar track on the opening song, “Aumba,” was laid down by Eric and also features Dagoberto Gonzáles and Jon Faddis.

Shortly before the pandemic began, Pedrito flew to London to record a new arrangement of “My Father’s Eyes,” re-intepreted in Spanish as “Los Ojos de Mi Padre,” with Eric joining in on lead vocals. They also performed the song together at Eric’s 2019 Crossroads Guitar Festival in Dallas, Texas.

Eric also recorded and electric guitar solo on “Yo Sí Quiero.” The track also features Kenny Garrett.

Pedrito and EC have been friends and mutual musical admirers since 2009 when Eric would drop in from time to time to catch Pedrito’s regular spot at Guantámanera in New York City.

The album is out now on all digital platforms. A digipak CD and limited edition white vinyl are available from Immediate Family Records at http://bit.ly/PMacertijos.
