Eric Clapton Helps Mark Prince Philip’s 90th Birthday

On 15 December, a special dinner at Buckingham Palace helped mark the Duke of Edinbugh’s 90th Birthday and highlighted the works of two youth charities, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) and the Outward Bound Trust, of which he is patron. Prince Philip was accompanied by The Duke of York and The Earl and Countess of Wessex. Prince Philip welcomed 180 guests to the Palace and spoke about the progress of the two charities. The celebration was part of an appeal to raise funds to help more young people take part in the DofE when so many are struggling to find employment. Following dinner, Eric Clapton performed an acoustic set accompanied by Andy Fairweather Low (guitar), Chris Stainton (keyboards), Dave Bronze (bass) and Henry Spinetti (drums).
