Eric Clapton … Live In Hyde Park

Eric Clapton closed Day One of the Hard Rock Calling event in London’s Hyde Park on Saturday 28 June 2008. Preceding him on the bill were Sheryl Crow, John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Robert Randolph and the Family Band and the Steve Boyce Band. The music started at 15:00 and the show ran like clock-work.

Eric and his band took the stage at 20:15 under clear skies. Eric’s set list featured time honoured favorites like "Tell The Truth", "Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad", "Running On Faith" "Wonderful Tonight" and "Layla". He also included Curtis Mayfield’s "Here But I’m Gone" and Hoagy Carmichael’s "Rocking Chair" in the two hour set. Sheryl Crow, John Mayer and Robert Randolph joined Eric on stage for the encore, "Crossroads".

Eric Clapton’s current band lineup is Doyle Bramhall II (guitar / backing vocals), Chris Stainton (keyboards), Abe Laboriel Jr. (drums), Willie Weeks (bass), Michelle John (backing vocals) and Sharon White (backing vocals).

In addition to the main stage there was a smaller second stage in the park. The second stage headliners on Day One were The Charlatans, with support by Eddi Reader, Dawn Kinnard, Loose Salute, Ryan Bingham and Scott Mckeon.

Next on Eric’s schedule is a concert at Harewood House, near Leeds, England on Sunday, 29 June 2008. This is the final date for a few weeks. The summer concerts will pick up again in August.
