Eric Clapton, Others Guest On Chris Barber’s New Double CD “Memories Of My Trip”

Chris Barber has been part of the UK music scene since 1949, forming his own band in 1950. Barber’s band also helped launched the Skiffle Craze as well as the later British Blues Boom. To celebrate his 60 year career as bandleader and trombonist, a double CD, Memories Of My Trip, will be released this year. It contains 31 tracks, some of historical importance but never before released, and others newly recorded. Several of the tracks feature Chris Barber’s Jazz Band, which can trace it’s lineage all the way back to the beginning of Barber’s career in 1949. A varied list of guests contribute to the album, including Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters, Rory Gallagher, Lonnie Donegan, Jeff Healy, Van Morrison, Paul Jones, Edmond Hall, Albert Nicholas, Jools Holland and Mark Knopfler.

It will be out in the UK on 5 September, the US and Canada on 8 February and Germany on 6 May 2011. Release dates subject to change.
