Eric Clapton’s Six-String Stories: Less Than 100 Copies Remain

Less than 100 signed copies remain of Six-String Stories by Eric Clapton. The limited edition book from Genesis Publications, launched at last year’s Crossroads Guitar Festival in New York, features Eric’s previously unheard stories and unpublished photographs. Each copy is personally signed by Eric as a mark of his approval. The hand-crafted binding is inspired by the content. Books are quarter bound in cherry red leather to match Eric’s famous Gibson ES-335. The silhouettes of some of his most iconic guitars are blocked in gold and silver foils onto the cover. The 376 pages are edged in gold.

Using Eric’s own words, Six-String Stories presents nearly 300 instruments from his legendary guitar collection. Its a ‘family tree’ – making the connections between his instruments and amps and placing them in the chronology of his career.

Background information for each instrument paired with archival photography spans the five decades of Eric’s career. The story begins with his early days in The Yardbirds and his first guitars through the psychedelic sixties with Cream and Blind Faith, the stripped-back seventies, the electric eighties and unplugged nineties, right up to his fourth guitar and gear auction in 2010 benefitting The Crossroads Centre. The photographs of Eric were taken by over 80 of the world’s best photographers, including David Bailey, Terry O’Neill, Dominique TarlĂ© and Lord Snowdon.

The sale of Six-String Stories benefits Crossroads Centre Antigua. At it’s launch in New York in April 2013, publishers Nicholas and Catherine Roylance said, “The Crossroads Centre is very close to our hearts at Genesis Publications not least because the company’s late director, Brian Roylance, played an early role in the Centre’s founding. It is then a great honor to create our third book with Eric Clapton, the stunning new limited edition, ‘Six-String Stories’. By telling his story through his guitars, Eric’s book takes an original look at his legendary career. The result is a fascinating limited edition, the proceeds of which benefit the life-changing work of this important recovery centre.
