Eric Clapton’s World Tour Stops Off In Dallas

Eric Clapton kicked off the second leg of his U.S. Tour on 28 February 2007 at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas. It is a continuation of his 2006 / 2007 World Tour which began in Europe last May and has already visited many cities in the eastern regions of North America.

Eric’s band currently features Doyle Bramhall II and Derek Trucks on Guitar, Chris Stainton and Tim Carmon on Keyboards, Willie Weeks on Bass, Steve Jordan on Drums and backing vocals by Michelle John and Sharon White. The Robert Cray Band serves as tour support.

In Dallas, Eric performed 16 songs. He opened the 95th concert of his world tour with “Tell The Truth” from his album “Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs”. The remainder of the songs were drawn from his extensive back catalog and included “Running On Faith,” “Motherless Children,” and “Layla”. Overall, the set list was quite similar to the one performed in the Far East and Australia just a few weeks ago.

One Dallas concert-goer told Where’s Eric! that “Eric is and always will be the Maestro of the Blues and Rock and Roll.”. Another said, “EC just smoked on Queen of Spades and the other 12-bar blues numbers. Anyone that says he’s slowing down has really got to see him tear the rootsy blues numbers up. Don’t miss this tour, it’s worth every cent.”.

Full reviews and the complete set list can be found in the Tour Section of this site.

Next on Eric’s schedule is Houston’s Toyota Center on Friday, 2 March followed by the SBC Center in San Antonio on Saturday. The tour wraps 6 April in Columbus, Ohio at the Schotenstein Center.
