“Say What You Will” – Eric Clapton’s Exclusive Track for EXPO 2005 Released In Japan

It was announced last year that Eric Clapton would serve as Executive Music Consultant for the 2005 World Exposition in Aichi, Japan. He wrote a new song, “Say What You Will,” for the event. The track was released in Japan on 9 March 2005 on “Love the Earth”. It is Eric’s only contribution to the CD.

According to official press materials issued for Expo 2005, the song will also be included on Eric’s next album. This information has not been confirmed by Eric’s record company and is subject to change. A release date for his new album has not been announced.

Also featured on the Love The Earth disc are The Corrs, Yo Yo Ma, Sarah Brightman, Josh Groban, Olivia Newton John, Loreena McKennit, Ziggy Marley, Janis Ian and others. A complete track listing is available at the end of this article.

In January, Japanese recording artists SMAP released the song as a single. Entitled “Tomodachi e – Say What You Will”, the CD single included several remixes. Eric is not featured on the recording.

Expo 2005 will be open from 25 March to 25 September in Aichi, Japan. The event will be held in the Nagoya Eastern Hills (Nagakute Town, Toyota City, and Seto City) in Aichi Prefecture. Eric will not be performing at Expo 2005.
