Tsunami Relief Auction: Eric Clapton And Young Artist Team Up To Raise Funds

A series of 18 individual signed portraits of performers at the Tsunami Relief Concert in Cardiff, Wales on 22 January 2005 are currently being auctioned to raise further funds for the cause. Also being sold is a large mural of the concert logo signed by the majority of the artists who performed that day. The auction ends on 25 February.

Jade Pearce, age 16, created a 2′ x 2′ painting of legendary guitarist, Eric Clapton. Jade is currently on a future development course with Careers Wales, Mid Glamorgan. She and the other young artists designed and completed their works for the auction in conjunction with Pippin’s Designs, Ltd., coordinators of the Millenium Stadium Community Art Project.

The portrait was signed by Eric at the Tsunami Relief Concert, which he headlined.

Other autographed artist portraits featured in the auction include Keane, Badly Drawn Boy, Jools Holland, Charlotte Church, Goldie Lookin’ Chain, Lulu, Snow Patrol and Manic Street Preachers.

All funds raised by the auction will benefit the Disaster Emergency Committee’s Tsunami Earthquake Appeal.

BBC – Wales is helping to coordinate the auction. For more information, visit BBC – Wales Tsunami Relief Auction.
