Ryder, Maggie

 Maggie Ryder is a British vocalist (studio and stage backing) and composer. She worked with Eric Clapton during his 1993 Tour and his 1994 Royal Albert Hall dates, alongside Katie Kissoon.

Launching her music career in 1977, she worked early on with Krakatoa in England and also released a solo album on Polydor. Maggie has backed numerous major artists over the ensuing years. A short list includes The Eurythmics, Marvin Gaye, Bryan May, Tears for Fears, Jonathon Butler, Go West, Mannfred Mann’s Earth Band, Bill Wyman, Mike Oldfield, and Go West.

Maggie is also a successful song-writer, having numerous co-composer credits. These include a world-wide hit for John Farnham , "You’re the Voice". Many are also familiar with David Foster’s cover version of the song. Maggie also co-wrote “Rules” for Anita Baker.

Of recent note, David Archuleta sang “You’re The Voice” on the 2008 season of American Idol.
